I'm a technologist and creative operating at the collision of hard technology and human creativity. My background spans defense systems (MITRE), satellite communications (Cosmic Advanced Engineered Solutions), bootstrapped entrepreneurship (Go Servers), independent consulting (Doelltech), and frontier AI research (my Data Visibility). I've been a co-founder, staff engineer, grant writer, teacher, sculptor, and photographer.
What ties it together isn't a career arc — it's an approach. I don't solve problems the way a traditional consultant does. I probe, I sense, I respond.
Approach
I work at the intersection of complexity and chaos — literally, as my logo says. In Cynefin terms:
In complex domains, I probe-sense-respond. I experiment to find what works before scaling it. Whether it's implementing SAFe across a 150-person program or building a semantic database in Rust, I treat the system as emergent rather than predetermined.
In chaotic domains, I act-sense-respond. I cut through uncertainty by creating anchors of stability fast. From co-founding a startup with no playbook to researching frontier LLM techniques, I act to impose order, not to follow it.
Most hard problems — the ones that keep you up at night — live at the boundary between these two domains. They need both experimentation and decisive action. That's where I'm most useful.
Co-op
I'm building a cooperative to scale this approach: not a firm that sells my time, but a collective of practitioners who bring complementary skills to problems that outsize any one person. The co-op model isn't just about ownership — it's about treating each engagement as a distributed sense-making process, where the team's pattern-recognition capacity matters more than any individual's expertise.

Creative
I also paint, photograph, and build steel sculptures. The creative work isn't a hobby — it's a practice in seeing systems that don't announce themselves, in finding beauty in emergent patterns. It's the same skill set that helps me navigate complex technical problems, just applied through different media.
